Full Stack Developer
As a Full Stack Developer at Util, you will own the entire development project, working on building out our web-based platform and contributing to backend functions. You will work with our team of data scientists to understand our data and how best to visualise it for our clients. A key requirement in this role is an understanding of data and how to visualise it in effective, usable and comprehensible ways. While you will own your specific set of problems to be solved, expect to work closely with the engineering and product team to ensure the different solutions integrate with one another efficiently.
As one of the first members of our growing team, we expect you to contribute to all aspects of Util, including strategy, company culture and product development.
What You'll Do:
Build a web application/dashboard that will help our clients interpret and use Util’s data and insights to make more informed and impactful investment decisions;
Work with our team of data scientists to distil large, complex datasets into clean and elegant visualisations;
Build the backend infrastructure to enable the delivery of a scalable and high performance product with minimal footprint;
Work with our Product team on translating mock-ups, wireframes and user flows into frontend interfaces;
Contribute to the development of Util’s first commercial product, translating partner feedback into product features in an iterative manner; and
Address and improve any technical issues.
What We Look For:
A combination of frontend and backend skills, including a solid foundation in:
MEAN/MERN stack: Angular/React, NodeJS/ExpressJS/Restify;
Data structures, algorithms and system design;
Version control with GitHub.
Hands on experience in designing, architecting and implementing complex data visualisations, interfaces and smart end-to-end user experiences for sophisticated enterprise clients (working knowledge of Financial Services industry is a plus);
Ability to communicate complex technical information to a non-technical audience;
Familiarity with high-impact, fast-paced project sprints and agile processes;
Ability to work individually and in a team;
Flexibility and ability to adapt to changes in priority, with the understanding that process and structures are not rigid at an early stage start up;
An iterative problem-solving approach, with a “get it done and then improve” not “get it perfect” mentality;
Comfort with uncertainty - where others see unchartered territory you see the opportunity to innovate; and
